Autumn term in Year 1

Our theme for this term is All About Me.

Our Knowledge Organisers for this term can be found below, please read them with your children and complete the quiz.

Isolation Work

Please see 'Isolation Work' below for tasks to complete if your child has to self isolate.  You do not need to print the sheets unless you wish to.   As always if your child is unwell there is no expectation for them to complete the work.

Book Changing

This term reading books will be changed once a week on a Monday and should be returned to be quarantined on a Thursday.  Please note, we will be checking the children's book band levels throughout September before home reading books are sent home.

Please ensure the reading book and planner are in every day so that KS1 staff may read with your child and record it in their planner.

PE will be on Wednesday for all classes.  Children should come in to school wearing their PE kit please.  All earrings to be removed on Wednesday for PE and long hair must be tied back.

Homework is set each Friday and is due back on the following Wednesday.  In line with school policy each activity should take the following amount of time:-

Reading 10-15 minutes daily

Spelling 10 minutes weekly

English 20 minutes weekly

Maths 20 minutes weekly (including Cracking Number Facts)

If your child is struggling to complete their homework in this time, please speak to your class teacher.  Over school holidays your child may be asked to complete a project linked to work which they have been doing in class.

Homework questions can be emailed to the following email address:

Cracking Number Facts

Cracking Number Facts are tested on a Friday with a two-minute test.  Results are given to the children and if a level is passed a certificate will be sent home.  Please note we do not send home completed sheets - see the note below for more information about Cracking Number Facts.

Important Reminders

  • Children must bring their planners in daily and try to read at home every evening
  • All dinner money and school trips should now be paid through Parent Pay
  • Year 1 have the option for a hot meal on a Monday
  • We do ask that on Mufti days children still wear school shoes. No boots or strappy sandals
