Summer term in Year 1
Welcome back Peacocks, Monkeys and Tigers!
We hope you are ready for a busy summer term in Year 1.
We are continuing to use TAPESTRY in Year 1 so please communicate with us via the app or website. We regularly look at Tapestry so will respond quickly.
You can also contact your class teacher at homework_y1@ryvers.slough.sch.uk if you have a question or would like to share one or two of your learning activities with us or just to say hello! Please include your name and class in the subject line.
Activity Passports
Each year group has its own list of around twenty activities, which works out at about 7 per term. They can be done in any order. The majority of these activities will cost little or nothing to complete. When your child has completed an activity, then please let the class teacher know by showing a photograph, ticket or postcard etc. At the end of the year, we will award bronze, silver or gold certificates according to the number of activities each child has completed. Good luck Year 1! Who will win a gold certificate?!
Phonics:
At Ryvers Primary School, we now have a new phonics scheme called Little Wandle Letters and Sounds
Please visit:
https://www.littlewandlelettersandsounds.org.uk/resources/for-parents/
The resources on this page will help you support your child with saying their sounds and writing their letters. There are also some useful videos so you can see how they are taught at school and feel confident about supporting their reading at home. Find their Year 1 teaching programme overview here to see what your child will learn and when.
Soft start
Please remember we do not line up in the mornings. Children get dropped off on the KS1 playground. Please make sure you come all the way round to the KS1 playground so that a member of staff can see your child/ren.
Reminder: do not drop them off on the basketball court. Please walk all of the way.
Once the children come in and wash their hands, they start an early morning activity.
Soft start is from 8:35am-8:50am
Registration starts at 8:50am
Tapestry
In Year 1 we will continue to use Tapestry. We will not be posting on there as often but please keep looking at it for updates, posts and information. We will continue to use Tapestry for homework. Please feel free to upload your own posts from home...your class teacher would love to see what amazing learning you are doing at home!
Reading
Reading books will be changed every Monday and Thursday. Children will be given a new yellow reading diary. When you have read with your child at home, please sign this diary. Reading books are also available online at Collins Big Cat. Logins are on tapestry from last year.
Please read with your child every day and ensure their reading planner is in school every day so that KS1 staff may check their planner.
PE
PE will be on Tuesday for all classes. Children should come in to school wearing their PE kit please. All earings to be removed on Tuesday for PE and long hair must be tied back.
