House Captains
Our House Captains play a key role in fostering school spirit and leadership. Early in the Autumn term, each house meets, and aspiring house captains deliver presentations to their peers, sharing why they are suited for the role. A democratic vote follows, and the house appoints a House Captain, Deputy House Captain, and a house point counting team.
House Captains are responsible for leading and representing their house in various school events and activities. They motivate their peers, support teamwork during competitions, and contribute to maintaining house pride. Alongside their deputies and house point team, they track house points and celebrate collective achievements, promoting a sense of community and healthy competition. Each house selects a unique house song, played in celebration when a house wins the weekly house point total and to energize pupils before events such as Sports Day.
This system supports pupils by developing their public speaking, organisation, and teamwork skills. It also fosters confidence, accountability, and a sense of responsibility. For the school, the House Captain system strengthens house identities, encourages positive behavior, and creates a collaborative environment where pupils take ownership of their contributions.
